Gartner has released latest hadset market share statistics for first quarter of 2008. According to the stats Nokia still holds no.1 position with 39.1% market share on sales of 115.2 million units, Samsung holds the no.2 spot with 14.4% share on sales of 42.4 million units, Motorola secures the third position with 10.2% share on sales of 29.9 million units. It is good news for LG as it overtakes Sony Ericsson for the fourth position with 8% share on sales of 23.6 million units and Sony Ericsson comes fifth with 7.5% market share of 22.1 million units
Global handset sales reached 294.3 million units in the first quarter, a 13.6% increase from sales last year and Gartner also predicts that gobal handset sales will continue to rise between 10 and 15 percent in 2008.
