ETEN has officialy announced 4 new Glofish devices at Computex 2008. All four devices run the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and come with ETEN’s new touch-friendly 3D interface.

This device was awarded the  "Best Choice of Computex" award at the Computex 2008. It is the first dual-SIM and dual-standby Windows Mobile smartphone. Other features include HSDPA, 3 megapixel camera, VGA touchscreen

2. Glofiish V900

Motorola has launched a new touchscreen Smartphone device with built-in GPS support in the Chinese market. This device works with both GSM and CDMA networks. We wonder when Motorola would be releasing a similar device in the US and European market.

Gartner has released latest hadset market share statistics for first quarter of 2008. According to the stats Nokia still holds no.1 position with 39.1% market share on sales of 115.2 million units, Samsung holds the no.2 spot with 14.4% share on sales of 42.4 million units, Motorola secures the third position with 10.2% share on sales of 29.9 million units. It is good news for LG as it overtakes Sony Ericsson for the fourth position with 8% share on sales of  23.6 million units and Sony Ericsson comes fifth with 7.5% market share of 22.1 million units

Global handset sales reached 294.3 million units in the first quarter, a 13.6% increase from sales last year and Gartner also predicts that gobal handset sales will continue to rise between 10 and 15 percent in 2008.

HTC has announded its new Smartphone for entry level smartphone users. It is being branded as the
"affordable business PDA" and comes with Windows Mobile 6, 2.8-inch touchscreen, quad-band GSM/GPRS radio, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity  amongst other features. A number of Microsoft applications are also pre-loaded on the device. It wil be avilable at the end of May for $488.

Opera just released its mobile browsing stats for Q1 2008. Here they are:

• There are 44 million people using Opera Mini (chart above) and the number of users in Q108 vs Q407 alone grew an astonishing 26%
•  In the month of March alone, Opera had 31.5 TB of data traffic
• Indonesia and America are tied for first place with 63% of all traffic catering towards social networking sites
• Over 60% of the traffic in the Ukraine is for sports and entertainment websites
• The United Kingdom is the leader in mobile email with 11% of traffic dedicated to web based email services
• In Germany 7% of traffic is towards ecommerce sites

Here are the first quarter 2008 Handset sales statistics for the US.

• Motorola remained at No 1 with 27% market share, Samsung was No.2 with 18% market share, LG was No. 3 with 17% market share, Nokia was No. 4 with 8% market share and RIM was N. 5 with 5% market share.
• Handset sales reached 31 million handsets falling 22 percent compared to first quarter of 2007 .
• Smartphones sales was 17% of total sales and there was 10% increase in the sales of smartphones compared to first quarter of 2007.
• Most popular features involved in device sales were Bluetooth (79%) and music (60%)

Well wonder no more as RIM  has announced that it would be releasing its first ever Clamshell Blackberry device by the end of this year. No much known about the device but a small size, compact SureType keyboard, an internal and external display and a trackball are all part of the Blackberry Kickstart package.
